PUPPY PROGRAMS
Early Training is the Key to Success!
I’m starting with the assumption that you want a well trained dog. One that is easy to get along with and has fun with the family.
The best approach to puppy training is first, start early. Puppy training, in the beginning, is intense. Puppies can’t be left unattended, loose in the house or yard. They need lots of supervised and structured time to create good habits. They can, and should, learn everything they need to know before 6 months old. Between six and 18 months is the adolescent period. With a good foundation, this year will go much more smoothly. Consistency remains important and new, adolescent, issues can still arise. Putting forth a concerted, early effort will give you a decade or more of dog owning joy.
Second, good dogs are built by positively reinforcing the behaviors we want to see more of and preventing, through simple management techniques, the behaviors we don’t like. Puppies thrive on structure, consistency, play and training and develop habits through practice.
As a trainer, I focus on starting puppies out right and continuing support for families through this first 18 months, using a combination of training during the day for your puppy, written lesson notes, video lessons, family lessons and group classes.

That said, I do train older dogs. You may have an older dog that never truly learned the rules, or maybe you recently adopted a new family member you need some help with. Or even if you are interested in getting in to dog sports or training your dog for therapy or service work, I can help.
